Jennifer Luken Sutton, Ph.D.

Jennifer Luken Sutton (she/her/hers) serves as an Expert Guide with FirstGen Forward. Prior to joining, Jennifer was a Director in Student Success at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a TRIO achiever and first-generation graduate; her background in the TRIO Programs drives her passion in working with institutions and initiatives focused on support students and their families from under-resourced and underrepresented backgrounds. She has written and implemented several federal grants and led institutional efforts focused on First-Generation college students and the Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation and initiatives. She advocated and created curriculum for sections of the first-year experience course, specifically for students who identify as first-generation college students.

Jennifer is a proud Maverick alum, all her degrees are from the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds an M.A. and a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
