In this commentary, members of the editorial team of the Journal of First-generation Student Success (JFGSS) reflect on the history, current state, and future directions of the Journal. They discuss drivers that led to the inception of JFGSS and underpin its philosophy. The editors present data associated with trends in readership, article topics, and publication types. They also share efforts to expand access to the JFGSS. The article closes with a look ahead at the issues, methods, and areas of interest germane to the first-generation experience in higher education across roles, intersecting identities, and communities supporting them.
