Rockland Community College's First-Generation College Celebration
2021 First-Generation College Celebration
Rockland Community College is excited for our inaugural celebration of First Generation College Student Day on Monday, November 8, 2021. We have planned several events that celebrate and promote the success of first-generation college students. We will start the day by highlighting first-generation college student and alumni perspectives during a virtual panel discussion that will be moderated by RCC's Provost & Executive Vice President, who is also a first generation college graduate. Next, we will hold an in-person networking event for first-generation college students, faculty, and staff. Finally, we will complete the day by offering professional development to our faculty and staff on how to best support Latinx first-generation college students.
We are encouraging first generation college students and graduates to represent their first-generation status by wearing first-generation branded attire. The day's activities are co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, TRIO and Title V Conexión.
